We understand that you may want to add single ingredients (ie. bread, apples) in your meal plans rather than complete recipes. Fortunately, Meal Garden makes that very simple. 

When building a meal plan, search for the simple food as you would normally (for example "bread"). Then click on "... on it's own" (in this example "bread on it's own") to filter (1) the search results to only show single food items containing that word. Select the ingredient you need.

Enter an amount (2) and see the plan's nutritional information changing (3) in real time as they do when you schedule recipes. To see the nutritional information for the single food item, click the 'Show Nutrients' button (4).

Examine the nutritional information for the amount you specified.

Click 'Done' (5) when finished to go back to the meal plan scheduler.
